Modern arc:
When Sheng Qian was eighteen, her grandmother got into a car accident. She prayed to Heaven for protection, only to be told that she wasn't human.
Apparently, she was Sheng Xiangu, the guardian deity of a small world, and had skipped work to be reborn as a human.
Her unauthorized departure put the small world of Sheng Kingdom at risk of destruction.
Sheng Qian has to return and resume guarding the small world, find the man threatening it, Zhou Jiming, and grant him a wish.
Though skeptical, Sheng Qian agrees for her grandmother's sake.
With her identity as a guardian deity, the task should be easy.
But... why does she have to turn into a statue?
What happened to being an immortal maiden?
Ancient arc:
Zhou Jiming was born into privilege, but his entire clan was wiped out when he was ten.
From then on, he embarked on a path of revenge and stopped believing in the guardian deity Sheng Xiangu.
After hiding in Sheng Xiangu's temple, the old poison in Zhou Jiming's body flares up, burning him like a raging fire and leaving him in agony.
By chance, he touches a divine statue carved from cold jade and discovers that it's cool as snow.
Late at night, Zhou Jiming carries the statue back to his room and sleeps beside it to ease the pain of his poison flaring up.
Night after night.
Until one day, the statue turns into a person in his arms.
Soft as jade and fragrant as warm incense, she fills his senses.
