By the shores of Changhu Lake in Jingzhou, Hubei, there is a village called Daokouwan. An outsider named Peng Laoyao came there with his wife and children, escaping the turmoil of the 1940s. He fathered nine children in his life, but only four daughters survived.
Like the peach tree behind their house, they were plain and resilient. Weathering rain, snow, wind, and frost, they lived with the true colors of life, revealed the truth of human nature, and composed a tragic song of ordinary people struggling to survive in this world.
Theme: They never gave up, no matter how many times they were knocked down. They only wanted to live better.
