The Empire was once rocked by a scandal that sent shockwaves through the stars.
Lieutenant General Lu Fei, hailed as the Empire's brightest star, allegedly planned to conspire with enemy forces from the Federation and overthrow the royal family.
The one who turned the tide and sent the lieutenant general before a military tribunal with a single court filing was his partner, Cabinet Minister He Fangzhou.

When the Federation's enemy forces captured the capital planet, the people finally remembered the brightest star the Empire had ever known.
Furious, they cursed the chief cabinet minister with the vilest words they could think of: He Fangzhou, the man they had once regarded as their savior.
But the star had already fallen. There was no turning back.
1. Lu Fei is the gong. This is an OA romance, and both leads are reborn, one after the other.
2. In their past life, the gong had unrequited feelings for the shou, or so he thought. After being reborn, he is disillusioned, focuses on his career, and protects his family. The shou regrets everything too late.
3. The gong gets pursued in a groveling arc. The gong is hurt first, then the shou, but the gong gets 1 part angst while the shou gets 99.
4. The shou was a scumbag in his past life for a reason. Otherwise, there'd be no need for a groveling arc; we could just cremate him on the spot.
5. I'll add more if I think of anything.
Theme: The past cannot be undone, but the future can still be changed.
