"What's wrong with being picky?"
"I paid for it myself. It's not illegal to throw it away."
After ignoring her grandpa's "Every grain in your bowl comes from hard work" for the nth time, the Duan family's little princess, who loves wasting food, transmigrates to the 1960s, where there isn't enough to eat or wear. From then on, she begins a life of hunger and cold.
-
During the famine, Duan Aiguo's mother starves to death right before his eyes. Just when he thinks he's about to starve to death too, a pale, scrawny little girl gives him half a bowl of food.
He decides to protect her.
After spending time together, Duan Aiguo realizes that the little girl is even more pampered than a capitalist's daughter. If the food isn't tasty, she cries; if the road is hard to walk, she cries; if the bed is too hard, she cries...
At sixteen, the scrawny Duan Aiguo has a dream: to become the greatest soldier, so his little princess can wear the prettiest dresses and eat rice every day.
-
The taciturn Duan Aiguo doesn't know how to argue or say sweet things. Whenever the little princess gets angry, he can only stand there helplessly.
When the little princess is angry, she glares at him and snarls, "You're my child groom. You have to listen to me."
When the little princess is happy, she hugs him and softly calls him "Big Brother."
When they argue, the little princess angrily calls him "a blockhead."
Duan Aiguo thinks that he really is a blockhead, which is why he can't win his princess's heart. All he can do is silently protect her from behind, and he keeps at it for the rest of his life.
