She Is Like Midsummer

Blurb: 1. The Class Dinner, Nine Years Ago The whole class raised their glasses to wish them well. The dazzling lights filled him with hope, and Xie Yuanzhou believed that he and Zhi Jiao would have bright futures and spend a lifetime together. But a beautiful dream is still just a dream. One ordinary summer night afterward, Zhi Jiao pried his tightly clasped fingers apart one by one. Her gaze was resolute. She gave him no excuse, only said lightly, "I'm leaving. Take care of yourself. Don't miss me." Then she deleted every way to contact her and disappeared without a trace. That year, she pulled him out of the mire, only to push him back into it with her own hands. 2. The Class Reunion, Nine Years Later A few classmates whispered among themselves. "The class monitor didn't come again this year? I heard she's back in the country. We haven't heard from her in years. I wonder how she's doing now." "Xie Yuanzhou comes every year, but he still can't manage to see her." "Enough, look at him..." Xie Yuanzhou sat alone in a corner, pouring himself drink after drink. The dim light outlined his figure, making him the perfect embodiment of the lovelorn man everyone imagined. Under the table, his screen lit up. Xie Yuanzhou's fingers moved, and a message was sent: [Jiaojiao, what do you want for a late-night snack tonight?] That year, having lost and found her again, he was willing to claw his way out of the mire with his bare hands and walk toward her.
