Buddha's Mercy

After three thousand years of tribulations in heaven and five hundred lifetimes of reincarnation on earth, only one final tribulation remained. Once it was over, she could escape the miasma of the mortal world and be free beneath the heavens. Gu Miao had always been plagued by bad luck, and as the unlucky immortal in charge of misfortune, she was never popular with her fellow immortals. Whenever they saw her, they hurried to keep their distance. Fortunately, she was used to her freedom and didn't take it to heart. Still, whenever a festival came around and she saw the other immortals chatting and laughing in pairs and groups, she couldn't help feeling lonely. Luckily, only one last tribulation remained. Once it was over, she could ascend again and become a High Immortal. To pass the tribulation, she specifically chose to be reborn as a wild person destined to have no family or friends. But something went wrong as soon as she was born: she retained an immortal's memories of the distant past. She turned her head and saw a tall, graceful man with bright eyes, silk sleeves, and ink-black hair. He bowed his head and politely asked for directions. A modest gentleman, as pure as jade and elegant as an orchid, born with a graceful bearing, as refined as an immortal. One glance, and she was captivated. Damn it, what rotten luck. A tribulation of love! This man was the Celestial Emperor, the one she had loved through several lifetimes, though he had lost his memories. No matter. If she couldn't cultivate to become an immortal, with the Celestial Emperor and their past relationship in the way, she could become a Buddha instead. Buddha, here I come! Theme: Believe in it, honor it, praise it, follow it; working people are the most glorious.
