The Landlady in the 1990s

Blurb:

Meng Qinghe, who grew up in a remote coastal area, came with her family to Huacheng to find work. The dazzling big city made the demand for housing soar.

While working on construction sites, Meng Qinghe seized a business opportunity amid the changing times. Through her own hard work, she became a landlady with ten houses in Huacheng and achieved a lie-flat life. Later, a financial reporter interviewed her: "How did you manage to own ten houses? And how did you and your husband meet?"

Meng Qinghe smiled happily and replied, "It all started with a little story."

The little story: Meng Qinghe's father couldn't stand the hard work and quit after only half a month, leaving without collecting his wages.

Meng Qinghe decided to demand his wages for him. The foreman, Shen Yu, took one look at her skinny frame and decided she didn't look like much. He deliberately made things difficult for her, telling her that he'd pay up once she'd carried away all the bricks in the corner.

Later, Meng Qinghe really did finish carrying the bricks, and Shen Yu took a liking to her too. He exclaimed, "This girl has some fire! I like her!"
