He thought they were only using each other, but it turns out Shang Chuyu had kept him in his heart for many years.

"That wasn't what you said when we got married, Mr. Shang." On the fencing piste, Xun Feng's sword tip traces a beautiful arc, as free and bold as the day they first met. "But," he says, looking at Shang Chuyu's handsome face, "beat me, and I'll make our play-acting real."

Later, Shang Chuyu pins him down for "overtime." Xun Feng is red-eyed and limp all over. "This isn't what we agreed on!"

Shang Chuyu grips his chin. "Didn't Mr. Xun say I should make up for lost time and catch up?"

Xun Feng, teary-eyed: "Not that kind of catching up!"
