Synopsis
CP: cheerful, forthright tough woman Lumi Jie x reserved, gentlemanly Mr. Robert with a powerful build
Lu Min is a tough cookie who has always been free-spirited and unrestrained. No savings, a mortgage, no marriage, no romance... She handles it all with ease, convinced that as long as she charges ahead and gives it her all, there's no obstacle she can't overcome. She never expected that the mysterious man who picked her up during a business trip would be the beginning of a crushing defeat.
Mr. Robert hates trophy women. The more beautiful the women in high society are, the more false and calculating he thinks they are, so he refuses to spend a penny on them. So when Lu Min appears in all her splendor in the airport lobby, she finds herself inexplicably subjected to Mr. Robert's icy scrutiny. If he hadn't been doing someone a favor, he probably would have turned around and walked away on the spot.
Only later does Mr. Robert gradually understand that not every beautiful Eastern woman is as gentle and reserved as the movies portray them. Nor can prejudice be used to judge everyone. To someone, being called a "trophy" is simply a compliment on her looks.
Using her beauty to get her way is just a regular move for Lu Min!
Down-to-earth blurb:
The Chinese have a traditional kind of fussing over you called "parents think you need to..." (fill in the blank).
The Lu family's only child was a beautiful baby from the start. Her parents and elders worried that their little flower would grow up spoiled and dependent, and that some wolf would snatch up their precious little cabbage in an early romance. So they put a strong emphasis on raising her to be independent.
At long last, young Lu graduated and got a stable job. But as soon as she gained some ability, she spent all her time drifting around the big city and never came home. Think you're all grown-up now, do you? Building a career is fine, but how dare you not save or invest? And worst of all, you're nearly thirty and still don't want to date or get married?!
Lu Min's mindset collapses: Now that I've learned to handle everything on my own, what do I need a partner for? Stop meddling!
The whole Lu family is frantic: What do you do when your child has overcorrected? Asking online!
They go all out to set her up with top-notch prospects, but their girl keeps rejecting them: long-distance relationship, no; age-gap relationship with a younger man, no; communication problems, no; not good-looking enough, also no! She's so picky, is this a royal matchmaking contest?!
Then Lu Min mysteriously comes home with a blue-eyed foreign man following behind her.
The Lu family is gloomy: When will this silly girl's rebellious phase finally end? She says long-distance relationships are no good, and now she's jumping straight into an international one. What are we supposed to do?
Lu Min says calmly: Is his genetic makeup not good enough?
Mr. Robert smiles without a word, pretends his Chinese is terrible, and joins the Lu family group chat, setting off a flurry of red-envelope gifts.
The Lu family: ...This son-in-law is growing on us!
Career-focused female lead blurb:
Lu Min's nickname is Lumi, which sounds like the Cantonese phrase for "scoop up noodles" and means being good at getting things done. People call her Lumi Jie. Though she came up through unconventional channels, she's become a formidable force in AKC's Purchasing Department, the top enforcer under the boss.
From international business development and brand expansion to coordinating international supply chains, Lumi Jie handles it all with ease. She talks wellness tea at supplier dinners, discusses life's ambitions at brand receptions, and can turn any kind of mess into her usual comfort zone with a wave of her hand.
With skills like hers, who would guess that this tough woman also has a side hustle that could make her an overnight sensation?
A tabloid reporter lying in wait outside AKC catches sight of Lumi Jie striding along: What's it like to become famous overnight? Will you enter the entertainment industry next?
Her secret identity is exposed without warning. Lumi Jie is filled with concern that her career may be cut short: I just wanted to make a little extra money to pay my mortgage. Do you really have to crush me completely? Looks like I'll have to focus on my side hustle!
Premise: If you don't strive in life, how will you get a ticket to the wider world?
