After I Died, the Male Lead Fell into Darkness

Ding Cai transmigrates into a novel as its female demon lord. Cruel and powerful, she is guilty of countless atrocities, and people tremble with fear and grind their teeth in hatred at the mere thought of her. In the final battle between the righteous and demonic factions, she is finally slain by the sword of the male lead, Jiang Shixi.

Ding Cai arrives on the eve of that battle.

Having no intention of becoming a demon, she decisively leaves the demon's lair to escape her destined death.

In the mortal world, she meets a handsome, refined man who steals her heart. He is aloof and powerful, and can do anything.

After countless efforts, she finally manages to gradually win him over.

Just as they are about to get their happy ending, both their identities are exposed. He discovers that she is the female demon lord, and she discovers that he is the male lead, Jiang Shixi.

She asks him, "Will you still like me?"

He replies, "No."

Later...

During the long-delayed battle between the righteous and demonic factions, Jiang Shixi watches as Ding Cai is finally surrounded and slaughtered by the righteous sects. Her beauty is lost to the world.

Her soul drifts in the air, watching Jiang Shixi become a demon for her sake, slaughter the righteous, and turn the land into a river of blood.

She also sees him kneel in despair amid the bloodshed, his hair turning white overnight.

Blood spills from his throat, and his voice breaks and trembles: "Caicai... come back..."

#I only said it in a moment of madness, and she died#

#I thought she was dead, but she came back in another body and got together with another man#

Important notes:

1. A romance-focused story. The male lead does not change. One-on-one romance, emotionally and physically faithful. Happy ending.

2. The heroine is lovestruck early on, then changes as the story develops. She has a darkening arc and grows.

3. The hero starts out as a beacon of righteousness, but later becomes a truly sinister, terrifying demon lord and a hopeless romantic.
