Everyone knew that Miss Jiang was frail and often ill, and rarely left her home.
No one expected her to sneak out on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival and buy a man in a deserted alley.
The man's name was Yan Wusheng. He was handsome, but quiet and taciturn.
Kneeling on one knee before Luo Qianlan, he said, "I swear to serve you faithfully, Miss."
His fervent eyes were filled with her reflection.
She couldn't get this strange man to leave. Instead, he saved her from danger time and again.
Luo Qianlan simply made Yan Wusheng her personal bodyguard.
-
Then the realm was engulfed in war.
Luo Qianlan's identity as a princess of the former dynasty was exposed, leaving her nowhere to run. Yan Wusheng was the only person she could rely on.
She risked her life to flee to the secret place known only to him, only to find the man looking grim as he cut down her maid with his sword.
Blood sprayed everywhere. At that moment, Yan Wusheng looked like a vengeful demon.
Caught in a trap and watching her adoptive parents held at swordpoint, Luo Qianlan had no other choice.
She resolutely raised her cup and drank the poisoned wine in one gulp.
Luo Qianlan thought that dying this way might not be so bad. At least she wouldn't go on loving the man who betrayed her without even understanding what was happening.
-
But she didn't die.
Several months later, Luo Qianlan returned to Luoyang in disguise, only to hear that a madman had appeared in the city.
Cold and ruthless, stopping at nothing.
He lived only to avenge the death of his beloved.
"Once, she was a princess and he was her bodyguard.
Now, she is a fugitive cursed by everyone in the imperial capital, while he is a feared Imperial Guard."
-
There were two things Yan Wusheng regretted most in his life.
First, that he had failed to protect his princess on the day the kingdom fell.
Second, that he later had to watch her die right before his eyes.
From that day on, Yan Wusheng swore to shed his own blood to ensure Luo Qianlan's revenge was complete.
P.S.:
The heroine fakes her death, and the hero has to win her back.
But! Someone else was responsible for the betrayal. The hero is utterly loyal to the heroine!
