Shen Hehui and Gu Zhizhuo break up on the eve of their college entrance exams for the following reason: one receives an offer from a top university in the Southern Hemisphere, and the other receives an offer from a top university in the Northern Hemisphere. Neither can convince the other to come along, so they part with resentment and agree never to see each other again.
As graduation approaches, Shen Hehui's father, who has been a widower for years, suddenly tells him, "Your dad's getting remarried."
Southern Hemisphere: "Gender and address."
At the same time, Gu Zhizhuo gets a message from his mother: "Zhizhuo, I've found my soulmate."
Northern Hemisphere: "Time and place."
That day, the Northern and Southern Hemispheres reunite at their parents' wedding on the equator.

To avoid the awkwardness of living under the same roof as his ex, Shen Hehui decides to pursue a master's degree. Shortly before graduation, he's sent to the Roof of the World to complete his thesis project.
As it happens, Gu Zhizhuo follows in his mother's footsteps and becomes a cardiothoracic surgeon, taking part in a medical aid program in Tibet.
The two unexpectedly end up living together, beginning a life where they can't avoid running into each other. They tacitly agree to act like strangers, never mentioning their eventful past or their ridiculously tangled family ties.
Until one day, Shen Hehui finds a stack of plane tickets for round trips between the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, along with copies of his medical records...
