My other novel, The Radiance of Xiao Xing Zhao Zhao: The male lead is a truly unhinged, beautiful eunuch. Please add it to your want-to-read list~~
Though Lu Youyou transmigrates as a cannon-fodder female side character and has to raise the villain's favorability to stay alive, she can't help having some improper thoughts.
The first time, the villain is still a pitiful blind boy without an immortal root. Lu Youyou thinks, If only I could kill him while he's still young.
But she loses her nerve. She plunges into a sea of flames to save the male lead, only to find that the second she appears again, the villain has her imprisoned. Lu Youyou thinks again, If he falls in love with me, wouldn't that max out his favorability?
But fate changes once more. Lu Youyou jumps from the Execution Immortals Platform, yet in the end, she can't bring herself to leave without writing him a farewell letter telling him to forget her.
When she wakes for the third time, the villain has grown into a solitary, cold Demon Lord, his long sword pointed straight at her chest. But now the world is in chaos, and Lu Youyou thinks, Who has time to worry about the villain?
Later, the villain saves the world for her. Amid a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, he kneels at her feet, laying down his pride, his eyes red as he begs:
"Youyou, please, don't leave me again."
A slow-burn heroine who keeps her head down to survive early on, then takes the world to heart x a possessive male lead who grows more warped the more she raises him
Content warnings:
A redemption story, but the male lead suffers. Male-lead fans, stay away!!!
(A self-described) slow-burn, delicate, old-school redemption story
Cover by Lan Zhi, used with permission
The xianxia setting includes plenty of original worldbuilding. Don't argue about it. If there aren't any difficulties, I'll make some so I can torment the male lead.

Synopsis for The Radiance of Xiao Xing Zhao Zhao
Ruan Zhaozhao is the only female priest at her temple, and by imperial decree she enters the harem to exorcise evil spirits and pray for blessings.
She hears that the harem is full of endless gossip, so Ruan Zhaozhao happily packs her bags. Before she leaves, her master tells her fortune and says there's a man in the palace whose name contains the character for "dog." He is fated to be cursed with loneliness, and will one day rebel and slaughter people. He is ruthless, vindictive, and never lets a slight go unpunished. She must stay away from him.
Ruan Zhaozhao takes the warning to heart: stay away from petty dog men.
At the palace, Ruan Zhaozhao visits the empress's residence one day and finds a little doll with needles stuck in it. The next day, she strolls through the imperial garden and rescues a little princess who has fallen into the water. Performing rituals and enjoying gossip, she has a wonderful time.
One snowy night, as she passes the Cold Palace, Ruan Zhaozhao suddenly sees a eunuch with his long hair loose, crawling through the snow and leaving a horrific trail of blood behind him. Terrified, she knocks him unconscious with one punch.
A bright red nosebleed blooms across his jade-white face. Beneath that long hair is a face so beautiful it seems almost demonic.
Beauty is irresistible. Ruan Zhaozhao takes him home to recover, and sharing gossip with the beauty makes it all the sweeter.
But later, she finds herself at the center of the gossip. Somehow, she wakes up in a soft bed, with Jing Xiaoxing's murderous gaze fixed on her and his rosy lips bitten by her own teeth.
Zhaozhao clutches the quilt tightly and whispers, "Chief Eunuch, if I say I was helping you drive out evil spirits, will you believe me?"
Later, Zhaozhao receives a letter from home. Her master has divined that her destined match is the Chief Astronomer.
Zhaozhao goes to the hall to say her farewells, only to hear the emperor say to the person beside him with a teasing smile, "Gou Ya'er, how about I arrange for this little Taoist nun to marry you?"
Zhaozhao looks up and sees Jing Xiaoxing dressed in red, brilliant as blood. His face is dusted with white powder, and his pale eyes are icy blades that make her shiver.
Oh no. She seems to have offended the pettiest man in the world.
Jing Xiaoxing has never believed in ghosts or gods. He only believes that human hearts are wicked.
After one wrong move in a game of chess, he is brutally beaten with forty blows and nearly dies. Stripped of his uniform as a eunuch in the Directorate of Ceremonial Affairs, he is demoted to the Cold Palace to serve a deposed consort. Everyone tramples on him, except for a little Taoist nun who is like sunshine, cheerfully shining into the desolate Cold Palace.
Later, he rises again and becomes Chief Eunuch. No one dares look down on him or defy him anymore. But then he sees a letter from home in the little Taoist nun's hands: her master has divined that her destined match is the Chief Astronomer.
That night, Jing Xiaoxing sits alone for a long time, then tears the letter into tiny scraps.
So what if it's destiny? He will defy fate and change his own destiny!
Bonus scene:
Master: What's the guiding principle of our temple?
Ruan Zhaozhao, loudly: Follow the Way of Nature. If anyone objects, beat them up!
Later, her master says in exasperation: I didn't mean you should take him to bed!
