After nine attempts, Luo Su finally scraped through the Ocean Alliance civil service exam with a low score, becoming the last person to pass the written exam and reach the final interview.
When his interview notice arrived, he was assigned to the Oceanic Relations Office.
It was the most popular position in the Alliance. The waiting area was packed with sharks and orcas, and he even spotted a sea monster.
Luo Su was a snail. A sea snail.
He figured he had nothing to lose, so he spouted nonsense and made things up during the interview, figuring he might as well entertain the examiners and try again next year.
To his surprise, he passed. He was the only one they hired.
Two hours later, he left the turtle section chief's office and hurried into the restroom, trembling. His legs were weak, and he couldn't pee.
The chief had said that ever since the age of the great oceans began, humanity had grown increasingly afraid of the military might and technological prowess of ocean civilization, and tensions had risen accordingly. The Alliance's leadership didn't want to provoke humanity too much just yet, so the Oceanic Relations Office needed to appoint two spokespersons.
They had to be the weakest, most harmless-looking candidates, the kind who seemed like they could be knocked over with a single push.
Luo Su didn't know whether to be happy or angry. As he pondered this, a handsome, long-haired man with an expressionless face suddenly pushed open the door.
There was a whole row of empty urinals, but he stood right next to Luo Su.
Every man knows how annoying that is. Luo Su looked up at him, furious but unable to say a word.
The handsome man turned and met his gaze. Then he abruptly grabbed Luo Su's arm, shoved a piece of paper into his palm, and walked away.
Luo Su was dumbstruck. He hadn't even pulled up his pants when the chief came out of a stall. Glancing at the handsome man's retreating figure, he said, "Oh? You've already met your partner? He's an underclassman from a few years below you, a merperson."
Luo Su opened his palm. The paper had only two words written on it: "Run."
Luo Su: "Sob". My coworker is a rich second-generation from a prestigious family, a twisted schemer. What am I supposed to do?
Fake weakling, real power couple. As strong as ever, and as merperson as ever.
