1. As the most wise and mighty ruler in the thousand-year history of the Floating Dynasty, Emperor Yao was cherished and supported by his subjects. After his death, the people petitioned the reclusive imperial preceptor to send his soul to another world so he could be reborn.
Fu Ya devoted his life to governing diligently and caring for his people. He worked tirelessly and never slacked off, until he died of illness after overworking himself.
He felt he had done right by his late father and older brother, who had both died young, and could now rest in peace.
2. He thought that when he opened his eyes, he would find himself in the underworld and see his departed family. Instead, he woke in another world, and nearly got devoured as food.
After a fierce battle, he narrowly won.
Skyscrapers, steel and concrete, metal boxes racing down the roads, white birds flying in the sky... Everything was strange and new.
The strangest thing was the person whose body he had possessed. This person was naturally attracted to men. After confessing to the man he admired and being met with mockery and ridicule, he was so devastated that he drank all night and died at home.
Fu Ya looked at the face reflected in the mirror and suddenly understood the man who had received the confession.
His face was covered in swollen, red sores, like the aftermath of a car crash. Anyone confessed to by someone with a face like that would be startled, not delighted.
3. None of that mattered, though. Fu Ya read through the information he had gained from the souls he devoured: three thousand worlds, immortals, gods, demons, devils, mortals, cultivation, tribulations, and the pursuit of eternal life...
He slowly smiled. Even beneath the face covered in scars, a hint of peerless beauty could still be seen.
At last, there were no more duties he had to shoulder. The world was vast, and he was free to roam wherever he pleased.
