Gaara hadn't known what it felt like to get a full night's sleep since he was very young.
He knew that terrible things happened after he fell asleep.
His older siblings couldn't live with him. His mother had left him for heaven long ago. His father hated him so much he wanted him dead, and all the other children his age called him a monster.
Perhaps the only warmth in this world came from his uncle, Yashamaru.
And then even his uncle tried to kill him! Luckily, Gaara fought back and killed him instead (not really).
As the new year arrived and Sunagakure bustled with celebration, Gaara silently made a wish: Maybe I could have a little friend, someone who isn't afraid of me and can help me with my insomnia?
Feifei: Thanks for asking. I'm a beast from the Classic of Mountains and Seas. I rolled over in my sleep, fell out of a tree, and ended up in another world. What should I do?
Feifei's design comes from the Classic of Mountains and Seas: "Forty li farther north lies Mount Huo, where many trees grow. There is a beast there that looks like a wildcat, but has a white tail and a mane. It is called Feifei. Keeping one can dispel sorrow."
A little cutie who looks like a pure-white wildcat, with a tail almost twice as long as its body. It has chakra to spare, but no talent for fighting. After all, Feifei's main skills are calming people and dispelling their worries.
Theme: Cute little friends should grow up cute.
