Luo Zhu first met Xie Qijin at a grand banquet in the Yunyue Pavilion.
He was handsome as jade and tall as a crane, standing out among the guests who were lost in wine and women.
The only thing was, he was shaking his folding fan far too quickly.
Holding her pipa, Luo Zhu looked at him and, for some reason, burst out laughing.
Her laugh drew his gaze.
Then Luo Zhu watched as he closed his fan and pointed straight at her in full view of everyone. “I want to marry her.”
And just like that, she became part of the Xie family.
Only after they married did she learn that Magistrate Xie had been forcing Xie Qijin to marry the daughter of Yangzhou’s wealthiest merchant. After arguing fiercely with his father, Xie Qijin had declared that he would marry a courtesan instead. Then he went straight to Yunyue Pavilion and brought Luo Zhu home.
She also discovered that her husband did not just enjoy defying his father. He enjoyed defying everyone.
Except Luo Zhu.
