Fleeing Famine in the 1960S with a Game System

Tangguo transmigrates to the late 1950s, the hardest years of all. The days ahead hold no cooking pots, no food, and not even any bark left to eat. With no other choice, the whole village flees east toward the Northeast. They hear it has the richest land and the fewest people. But Tangguo is only five years old, with no say in anything and no ability to work. She's a deadweight through and through. Her family has seven children, six girls and one boy. The only boy is the same age as her and does nothing all day but suck his fingers and cry that he's hungry. Their family is clearly doomed. Their relatives keep their distance, afraid of being dragged down with them. Tangguo says: What's there to fear? I have a game System. Finish the daily quests and you can earn stones. Save enough and you can get a chance to draw a prize. Ding-dong: Congratulations, player! Your draw won one jin of pork and ten jin of rice. Tang, the rich one, stands tall, Guo: So what if we're girls? Girls can hold their own too! She face-slaps the second uncle's family, who think only sons matter, proving that girls can hold up half the sky. They eat well all the way there, and not one child in the family is lost. They turn the famine flight into a trip, and pick up a pretty kid along the way to raise. When they reach the Northeast, the men in the little mountain village, mostly bachelors, light up at the sight of Tangguo's family. Some get to work, some draw water, and some are practically ready to move their belongings into the family as live-in sons-in-law. Tangguo: Well, line up one by one. Handsome ones with good physiques get priority. Some guy, picked up along the way and raised into a big shot: Hm? Say that again? Reader's guide: 1. This story is set in a fictional world. The mass migration to escape famine is inspired by the Chuang Guandong migration. 2. The game System is inspired by a certain gacha mobile game. Games are so expensive and such a grind, so I'm writing a story to enjoy the experience for once. 3. Don't overanalyze the details. If it's not your thing, don't read it. The author is hopeless at logic! Theme: Getting rich through gacha
