Yingying's surname is Cui.
She is the eldest legitimate daughter of the chancellor.
She has skin as fair as snow and beauty like a flower.
Her only flaw
is that she is mute,
but she can hear what other people are thinking.
Yingying is sixteen
when a decree from the palace sends the chancellor's residence into an uproar.
The cruel crown prince has taken a liking to her
and wants her to enter the Eastern Palace as his crown princess.
Yingying need not speak.
What the crown prince wants
is her docility, gentleness, and obedience,
and her fear.
