The Sword God Is My Darling

The Merciful Sword is the greatest divine sword under heaven. Legend says that when mercy descends upon the world, its final hour has come. The one who wields the sword will be humanity's savior, slaying demons and vanquishing evil, upholding justice, and soon ascending to immortality.

Lian Ping'an lost both parents as a child and was raised by his master alone. He was chosen to succeed the foremost Taoist school in the world, and with the Merciful Sword Sect in his hands, he had no equal.

A model student with the talent of an unmatched sword god, he had a bright and smooth road ahead of him.

The people expected him to save humanity from utter devastation and rid the world of every demon beast.

Master: "Ping'an, the century-long prosperity of the Lian family rests on your shoulders."

Lian Ping'an: "Don't worry, Master."

The immortal sects and Taoist schools: "Brother An, lead us down the bright and glorious path!"

Lian Ping'an: "Don't worry, brothers."

The suffering people of the world: "We beg the Sword Sect to slay the demons that prey on people and bring peace back to the world."

Lian Ping'an: "Don't worry, everyone."

But then he met a mysterious, powerful little fox who never played by the rules, wandered the world for pleasure, and loved both people and respect.

The little fox told him, "With one thought, anyone can become a demon or an immortal. Humans can become demons, and demons can be human. The line between the two is the most confusing of all."

Lian Ping'an remembered the day he first met the little fox. Pear blossoms bloomed throughout Shanglin City overnight. Amidst the golden-gray dust and the ruins, a figure in fluttering red emerged.

The bustle and splendor of the whole city seemed to fill his eyes. Every smile and frown burned like a brand, as radiant as peach blossoms.

He smiled and said, "Nothing is impossible if a fox sets its mind to it."
