Bao'er-jie, a tough woman of the streets, beautiful and not much for words. While burying that shameless bastard Zhang Chulan yet again, her shovel suddenly betrayed her, and Bao'er-jie fell into the freshly dug pit. When she climbed back out, she found that she'd not only changed maps, but identities too: she was now the Feng family's only grandchild, a beloved granddaughter who'd been dead for seven days and had just come back to life.
People from all walks of life gathered around to gawk and study her as a rare curiosity. In the end, Wu Erbai, Uncle Er, that sly old fox, lured her onto his team with promises of food and lodging, and of taking care of Grandma Feng in her old age and seeing her through to the end. After putting her through a trial, he sent her to keep an eye on Wu Xie. And so the story begins. The plot follows the TV adaptation, with some reference to the novel.
