The Vase Duke Drops the Act [Nation-Building]

[Western Fantasy + Transmigrate Into a Book + Infrastructure Development. The CP is a fire dragon.] Ethan Deant is someone who transmigrated into a book. To escape being killed off by the plot, he works diligently at playing the pretty face and earnestly acts like a good-for-nothing, firmly branding himself as extravagant, gullible, and useless. Who knew the emperor would stop wanting him dead and start falling in love with him instead? He successfully escapes his plot-mandated death, but gets punished for it and exiled to Shaling County as its lord. Shaling County is vast and sparsely populated, dry and barren, far from the imperial capital, and home to a terrifying fire dragon. The nobles all think it's no place for the pampered Duke Chenxi to stay for long. But the Duke of Chenxi himself is delighted: Great! He's not only far away from that damn emperor, he has land of his own! Here comes the good life! From then on, the good-for-nothing duke sheds his old pretty-face image! He cracks down mercilessly on petty nobles, establishes an academy to cultivate talent, develops one magical innovation after another, solves the problems of food and drinking water, and even puts the fire dragon to work for him! Later, thanks to Ethan's tireless efforts, Shaling County becomes a famous center of commerce, culture, education, and entertainment across the continent. Visitors here can enjoy the most thrilling amusement park rides, eat the most novel and delicious food, and see the widest selection of magical films, comics, and novels. Merchants, scholars, and artists from every race across the continent gather here. The most powerful mages and magic swordsmen are stationed here. It boasts the best universities, research institutes, and most comprehensive educational institutions, producing an endless stream of talented people from every race for the whole continent each year. Shaling County is no longer the wilderness it once was! The nobles and emperor who had been waiting for Ethan to give up his fief and return to the capital are now completely dumbfounded: Where's the useless pretty boy they were promised? He's a little rabbit with steel teeth! A few things to know: 1. The CP is that fire dragon. 2. My take on Western fantasy, with tons of original worldbuilding! Written for my own enjoyment.
