Zhi Yue was the most beautiful woman in all of Bianliang.
In her first life, someone else took her place in the palace. Later, Prince Jing took a liking to her, and she became his princess consort.
Years later, Prince Jing raised an army in rebellion and became emperor. Before he died, unable to bear parting with his beautiful, radiant empress, he gave her poisoned wine and took Zhi Yue with him to the afterlife.
In her second life, Zhi Yue agreed to a marriage early on and wed a general.
Years later, the general raised an army in rebellion and became emperor. As he lay dying, unable to bear parting with his beloved, beautiful empress, he gave her a length of white silk and took Zhi Yue with him to her death.
In her third life, Zhi Yue gave up trying and fled to Jiangnan with her entire family.
Years later, the Prince of Wu in Jiangnan rebelled and became emperor. As he lay dying, unable to bear parting with his beloved empress, he stabbed Zhi Yue with his sword and took her with him.
In her fourth life, Zhi Yue woke up and strode straight out of the manor.
She sought out the emperor rumored to be obsessed with warfare, stern and suspicious, indifferent to women, and destined to die young, the emperor against whom people had rebelled three times.
The pale-faced emperor, his gaze cold and severe, wore his imperial robes as he watched the woman kneeling before him. She was like a cat trying to please its master, trembling and afraid her neck would be snapped. Even he couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
"I hear you admire me very much?"
Zhi Yue nodded. The chill in the emperor's eyes softened. He lifted her chin and murmured, "Would you like to be empress?"
Not really.
Knowing he would die young and soon, she wanted to be empress dowager.
