The day Xu Enxi asked to break up, Li Yan got drunk and blocked her outside the dormitory, his eyes red as he asked her why.

She didn't mention her family's downfall or the billion-yuan bet agreement.

Instead, she gave him a respectable-sounding excuse: “I'm entering the entertainment industry. A relationship could affect my career.”

That day, she watched the boy she loved lower his proud head,

his self-respect ground into the dirt until nothing remained.

“Fine. I won't bother you anymore.”

Later, Xu Enxi really did make a sensational debut in a web series. She rose all the way to the top of Chinese cinema, winning awards and becoming a legend.

But then someone set her up, and her reputation plummeted.

When she fell on hard times once again, she ran into Li Yan at an awards banquet.

He was now a hugely popular rising star and a respected actor, famous across the country.

Li Yan swirled the champagne in his glass and smiled faintly. “Listen carefully. If you want to clear your name, come back to me.”

It turned out there really was someone in this world who treated her like his faith and loved her as if she were his life.
