Blurb One:
Queen Elena of Xilin had three legitimate marriages in her lifetime.
She married and parted, again and again. Countless unofficial histories were written about her, and opinions of her were divided.
Some praised her great achievements, which established the balance of power between the two kingdoms for generations to come. Others disdained her many lovers and blamed a woman's accession to the throne for disrupting the established order.
Some loved her beauty and passion; others hated her cruelty and coldness.
Everyone's favorite subject of gossip was her three marriages.
The first time, she was only eight. As he lay dying, her grandfather told Elena that she would leave her parents and marry abroad, wed to a princely cousin she had never met, fulfilling the match he had arranged for her at birth.
The second time, she was just coming of age. After returning from her travels, she followed her parents' arrangements and married in her mother's homeland, carrying Xilin's hopes with her. But at the last moment, her intended husband was suddenly changed.
The third time, she was mature enough to seize the reins of fate in her own hands. She plunged wholeheartedly into the struggle for power, standing as an equal with those she once had to kneel before. Her poisoned beauty left everyone who encountered her unable to tear themselves away.
Fortunately, that person was by her side all along.
Blurb Two:
Elena Carven was born on a day when everything in Xilin carried on as usual.
Among the king's many children who could bear his surname, she was not the most remarkable.
Her mother had always intended to raise her as an ordinary princess, then have her fulfill the duties expected of one, just as she herself had done, and just as Elena's sisters would.
But fate had already made its plans. This girl, in whom no one had placed any hopes, would one day become the first queen remembered in the annals of Xilin.
Elena Carven was destined for greatness.
Notes:
1. (I think this is how you do a preorder? Scratches head.) I'll leave the first draft of the blurb here for now. Date: 2020.7.21. Screenshot saved.
2. The heroine has no romantic relationship with her second husband. Their marriage is purely a political alliance, and he has an unconventional sexual orientation.
3. The heroine's story of personal struggle. Caution! She is not a naive, sweet girl, a delicate damsel, a saint, or a good girl. She's simply a thoroughly awful girl who grows into an awful woman, a beauty in sickness in both body and mind.
4. The characters' values do not represent the author's values.
5. I haven't thought of anything else yet. I'll add more later~
Theme: It's not easy for a couch potato to turn her life around
