Raising a Zombie King

Fei Nuo awakened an ability at the end of the world: she could defend against any physical injury.

Armed with a kitchen knife that could chop vegetables or cut off heads, she struck fear into every zombie she encountered.

With her defensive ability active and a knife in hand, she returned to the place she had once fled, looking for her friends. But the huge mall had no trace of living people left. It had become a paradise for zombies.

Her friends had naturally become zombies, too.

Yi Zhige was the most unusual zombie she'd ever seen. He was a zombie, yet as fussy as a pampered young master: he was squeamish about blood, night-blind, obsessed with cleanliness, and, most importantly, picky about food.

When Fei Nuo found him, Yi Zhige was nearly starving to death. His body had lapsed into hibernation, and his special ability had covered him in weapons, making him look like a hedgehog made of metal.

Bold and confident in her abilities, Fei Nuo marched right up to him with a bowl of spicy turkey noodles.

With her free hand, she gestured in front of Yi Zhige. "Here, look at this fresh arm. Take a bite. It's the kind that could break your teeth."

Yi Zhige wrinkled his nose, but stared only at her noodles.

Fei Nuo picked up a pitiful zombie who kept fainting from hunger and shutting himself away inside a shell of metal spikes.

The first time she fed him, Yi Zhige said, "I'd rather die of hunger! I'd jump out of here before I'd eat a single noodle of yours... Wow, that's good!"

The second time, Yi Zhige opened the wall of layered blades around him and called her name trustingly. "Fei Nuo, I'm hungry."

By the nth time she fed him, Yi Zhige had become the Zombie King. When his iron hedgehog shell opened, it revealed all the delicacies his zombie subordinates had gathered. "Fei Nuo, they're all yours."
