Ai Tong's pale arms were marked with several bruises, and a few tears glistened at the corners of her eyes, though none had fallen. Wu Chen wiped the dirty water from his clean face with his hand and said softly, "There, it's okay now."
Ai Tong sniffled and thanked him, then turned to leave. She cared a lot about saving face and didn't want anyone to see her in such an embarrassing state. Wu Chen grabbed her slender arm. To his surprise, it was extraordinarily thin, as if she hadn't eaten in ages. He almost felt as though he were holding a skeleton, not a person.
Ai Tong turned to look at Wu Chen. "Do you know how to treat wounds?" he asked. She didn't answer and only lowered her eyes. "Come home with me. I'll treat them for you." Ai Tong looked at him, surprised and happy. At last, she wasn't alone anymore. She gave a small nod.
Wu Chen took her tiny hand. Watching his back, Ai Tong felt a little warmth.
