The Prey and Her (Fork & Cake)

A romance novel with a fork and cake setting, and a mountain of original worldbuilding!!! A quick introduction to the basics of the fork and cake setting: 1. There are three kinds of people in the Cake and Fork world: Cakes, Forks, and ordinary people. Cakes and Forks are both extremely rare. 2. Cakes and Forks have a predator-and-prey relationship, like antelopes and cheetahs. 3. To Forks, Cakes are "incredibly delicious humans." Their body parts taste like sweet foods such as chocolate, whipped cream, caramel, and jam. 4. Only Forks can smell a Cake's scent. Cakes only discover that they are Cakes after being attacked by a Fork. 5. Forks are born without a sense of taste or lose it later in life. They can regain it only by eating an entire Cake. 6. To prevent and deal with Fork crimes, each country establishes an F&C Mediation Bureau. 7. Most Forks go on living like ordinary people, but some may be driven mad. If they fail to prey on a Cake, they might attack ordinary people indiscriminately. 8. Few Forks and Cakes become partners, and even when they do, things rarely end well. Heroine: A sunny, badass special police officer Hero: A cool, aloof genetic pharmaceutical researcher This should count as a romance novel with a futuristic fantasy, mystery, and slight sci-fi feel (?). [The blurb may change at any time] 2022.10.8 Theme: Morality must take precedence over desire.
