The Bakumatsu: an age of turmoil. After discovering a secret of the Shinsengumi, a girl is forced to stay with them, witnessing the fate of its members, as ill-suited to the times as cherry blossoms. In the end, she too is struck by a stray bullet on the battlefield in Ezo and dies. Her guilt and regret toward the Shinsengumi allow this story to continue... "If you could do it all over again, what would you do? Could you change things?" the fox asks the pitch-black bound spirit.
This is both the beginning of everything and the end of everything. A chance to do it all over again, in this age of turmoil. It is the wish of Chizuru Yukimura, and his wish too. The long-hidden truth of the Yukimura family and a story from a century ago begin to emerge, one by one. And also... the one who disappeared so early from this history.
Theme: Resistance and struggle in the Bakumatsu era.
Ahhhh, I can still see Hakuoki now!
