Jiang Li, an NPC who loves to slack off and take it easy in escape games, is demoted by the System to an ordinary player for neglecting her duties. To "officially" get her old job back, she has to clear high-difficulty instances.
Without her NPC filter, Jiang Li regrets everything: "Waaah, I was wrong! System, transfer me back! Without the filter, my former coworkers don't even look human anymore."
A certain Boss: "...They weren't human to begin with."
On her second day in a high-difficulty instance, Jiang Li works up the courage to point her knife at her former coworkers, who are trying to eat her. "You attacked first. I'm acting in self-defense."
Her former coworkers grin. "Come on, cutie..."
But a certain Boss beats her to it, kills some of the minions, then puts away his bloodstained knife. "Sorry, I was too quick. Want me to leave the rest for you?"
Jiang Li closes her eyes and waves her knife wildly, taking out the Boss in one swing.
The Boss spits blood. "...I'll be back!"
On day N as a player, the System asks Jiang Li, now a big shot, to return to her NPC job.
Jiang Li, who has countless soul pearls, armies of underlings, and a certain Boss by her side, smiles faintly. "No thanks. I think I'm pretty happy here."
