Lured into Marriage

*The blurb leans toward romance, but the story itself includes household intrigue

Wei Yuan was born into an unhappy family, with an indifferent stepmother and father above her, and servants who barely bothered to do their jobs below.

Aside from her pretty face, she had nothing else to make her stand out.

To stay alive, she pretended to be a timid, harmless little flower, living quietly in the Wei household for fifteen years. Then, one night in the red plum garden, she ran into her maternal cousin Pei Yu'an, who was said to be staying at the Wei residence and engaged to her elder half-sister.

According to rumor, he had been pampered since childhood and was spoiled by nature, a notorious playboy in the capital.

Sure enough, the smiling young man saw straight through her act.

Not long afterward, Pei Yu'an fell into grave danger, and her elder sister's engagement suddenly changed. The task of marrying him in her sister's place, in hopes of bringing him good fortune, fell to Wei Yuan. She figured that once he kicked the bucket, life would be easy.

Who could have guessed that on their wedding night, just as Wei Yuan lifted her veil, she would meet Pei Yu'an's smiling eyes? "It was so hard just to marry you."

At first, Pei Yu'an married Wei Yuan only because his family was pressuring him. He thought she was far more interesting than his dignified elder cousin, who could barely even open her mouth to smile.

It wasn't until later that Pei Yu'an realized:

Wei Yuan was interesting in every way, and getting her to blush was even more fun.
