Shen Cen is a newly hired professor in the physics department at A University. His voice is cool and detached, his looks refined and ascetic, and his students both respect and fear him.

He asks, "Why are you filling in for someone?"

Shen Cen gives a soft laugh. "Is that so? I teach on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons. You can come to all my classes."

To make her lie believable, Hang Tian ends up auditing his classes for a whole semester.

Then, at the end of the semester, Shen Cen asks, "Do you still like my class? Should I let you know when next semester's schedule comes out?"

Hang Tian: "..." Can I take that back now?

But Pei An remains unmoved. She even forgets their wedding anniversary and goes clubbing with a friend.

One night, He Zhiyan, slightly drunk, bites her neck and complains:

"You heartless little thing, don't you care about me at all?"

Pei An thinks: It's a sham marriage. Why should I care?

Later, Pei An accidentally overhears a conversation between He Zhiyan and his mother. The usually restrained He Zhiyan looks angry:

"You forced me to give up An-an once before. Do you want to make me do it a second time?"

His mother sneers. "What if I do?"

He Zhiyan replies resolutely, "Then I advise you to give up that idea."

He turns around and nearly runs into Pei An.

Pei An wants to leave, but He Zhiyan stops her:

"Since you heard everything, An-an, could you give me another chance?"
