Calculated Tenderness

[Scheming emergency room doctor × spirited young policewoman]

*I went to great lengths to win over my crush, only to discover I was the one being played.*

[1]

Ji Boxue first met Lin Jing in a bar.

He sat by the counter with an indifferent expression, looking exactly like the suspect described in the report.

She pulled out her notebook and walked over. "Police investigation. Name and occupation."

He smiled slightly and downed his liquor. "Lin Jing. Doctor."

Hah. A doctor in uniform? He knew how to play.

Ji Boxue pursed her lips without a word, but the radio on her belt interrupted first: "We got bad information. The location has changed!"

The mood instantly went cold, and she made an awkward escape.

Later, she heard that he was the untouchable, icy star of City No. 1 Hospital.

But Ji Boxue didn't believe it.

The hospital organized an outing, and plenty of girls turned their eyes toward Lin Jing.

As always, his eyelids were half lowered, his expression cool and distant.

Then Ji Boxue ran over. "I'm on a case. Would you mind pretending to be my boyfriend for a bit?"

Everyone clicked their tongues at such a clichéd pickup line, waiting to see her make a fool of herself and guessing how cruelly Lin Jing would reject her.

But Lin Jing's lips curled into a faint smile. He immediately put an arm around her shoulders and leaned down to scoop up a spoonful of ice cream from her hand.

Ji Boxue wore a triumphant smile: plan accomplished.

Lin Jing first met Ji Boxue on a typhoon day. He was injured and barely conscious inside an overturned ambulance. In the chaos, a warm hand clasped his, and a gentle voice soothed him: "Don't be afraid."

When they met again, not only did she fail to remember him, she treated him as a suspect.

From that day on, the chaste male idol of City No. 1 Hospital seemed to become a different person.

*Turns out his tenderness was a trap he'd deliberately laid for me.*

1v1, each other's first love, both virgins.

Theme: Being near you makes me a better person.
