Inspired by the show. I've watched both the show and the original, and I like Zhang Dongsheng as well as Zhu Chaoyang, so I got carried away and decided to write fanfiction.
There will be OOC moments and lots of headcanons. If that's not your thing, please leave. If you want to argue, you're right. There are age changes.
The pairings are either Dongsheng or Chaoyang, or else Yan Liang.
Mr. Zhang isn't bald, and he's in good health.
An older, refined-on-the-surface but calculating teacher X a gentle high schooler who fiercely protects those he loves X a younger, sweet-on-the-outside and dark-on-the-inside wolfdog / a younger, silly, sweet puppy. There will be a love triangle. At heart, this is just a self-indulgent romance. Looking back at the plot, Chaoyang is in seventh grade in the show, so I've adjusted the character descriptions and ages a little. (Since the protagonist is underage, the romance will go no further than second base.)

His parents divorced when he was seven, and decided who would raise him with a game of rock-paper-scissors. Unfortunately, after his father remarried, he was conned. His father, frustrated by his unhappy love life, was always making a scene, and Li Xi got beaten whenever things didn't go his way.

In his final year of middle school, Li Xi was kicked out of the house by his father. Covered in bruises, he ran into the sixth-grade boy from across the hall.

Li Xi looked at the boy clutching his backpack straps and sighed. "School's out?"

"Chaoyang... Can I hang out at your place for a while?"
"Sure."
