Snow Blankets the Capital

☆ College girl/fashion designer X powerful Beijing big shot, rekindled love

When Fang Ni first met Tan Ji, she was dating his buddy, Zong Zheng.

Thinking he was just some insignificant side character, she acted without restraint and said brightly, "Since you're A-Zheng's friend, I'll call you A-Ji."

Tan Ji paused, then watched her with amused interest, his long fingers flicking away a little ash.

Only later, when she heard vague rumors about his family background, did she realize just how presumptuous she had been.

Mr. Tan was high above the rest and rarely showed kindness to anyone outside his social circle. People habitually bent forward when speaking to him, while he wouldn't even turn his head.

But he gave her gifts and came to her aid time and again...

Fang Ni knew men like him were used to playing along, dangerous and heartless, but she still couldn't help falling in love.

When her ex-boyfriend got married, she got drunk and sobbed to him over the phone.

Mr. Tan took an hour out of his busy schedule to listen to her rambling call. Later, she felt embarrassed. "Was I too much trouble for you?"

He chuckled. "Not at all." He seemed to have enjoyed it.

But her ears turned red.

Once, a friend asked about their relationship. She replied awkwardly, "We're just passing acquaintances. There's nothing between us. He just... takes especially good care of me."

Knowing their relationship would go nowhere, she packed her bags and prepared to leave.

"You're not going to ask me for anything? You've been with me for years." He scoffed and didn't stop her, just watched as her small frame struggled to drag her suitcase, his face utterly expressionless.

Years later, she returned to Beijing and went out of her way to avoid him.

But Beijing wasn't that big, and if she wanted to get ahead, how could she avoid someone like him?

Her boss needed a favor from him and presented him with an antique celadon piece. After a long introduction, Tan Ji didn't even look up. Instead, he asked out of nowhere, "Didn't you like pink porcelain? Is this your thing now? After all these years, your taste hasn't improved. If anything, you've gone back to basics."

Her boss was stunned for a long moment, then turned to look at Fang Ni.

Fang Ni was silent for a while before raising her head. She looked at Tan Ji, but he didn't look at her even once. There was no trace left of the tenderness he'd once shown her.

Back then, if she shed even a single tear, he'd worry for ages.
