The Pretend Gentleman

Half a month into filming, Shen Mi discovered the one good thing about this broke production crew.

Qin Yizhuo, a genius biologist who never collaborated with outside organizations, had somehow become the production’s technical consultant. In his white coat and glasses, cool and aloof, he was practically her ideal man come to life!

Best of all, he was a perfect gentleman.

During filming guidance,

when her shoulder strap slipped off by accident, Professor Qin gently pointed it out. Shen Mi was deeply touched.

“Thank you. You really are a good person.”

I like him!

I want to date him!

The morning after a night of heavy drinking,

Shen Mi woke up fully dressed in the guest room of Qin Yizhuo’s home.

“You’re still the one I feel safest with, Consultant Qin.”

Breakfast was set out on the table. The man sitting on the sofa was refined and aloof, as if untouched by worldly concerns.

I like him!

I want to date him!

What she didn’t know was that for the next week, that flash of white lingered in the man’s dreams.

And just half an hour earlier, he had been kissing her fingers and cheeks with feverish abandon.

After pursuing him with all her might for half a month, the man remained as aloof as ever.

Heartbroken, Shen Mi decided to take her manager’s advice and fake a couple pairing with an award-winning actor. First things first, she needed to eat.

Their romance quickly became the talk of the town. On a variety show, a gossip host asked about their relationship.

Shen Mi smiled sweetly. “Actor Xu has a wonderful personality. Who wouldn’t like him?”

The audience erupted in cheers.

After filming wrapped, she returned to the dressing room and found two new messages from Consultant Qin on her phone.

[Don’t like him.]

Two minutes later.

[Can I be the other man?]

Qin Yizhuo: I’ll try my best to be normal, so I don’t scare her away.

Shen Mi: I want the calm and self-possessed Professor Qin to go crazy for me.

Theme: To escape the hook of fate, a fish needs wisdom, hard work, and the courage to risk everything.
