On the Rival in Love's Self-Cultivation

Gu Chunfeng and Jiang An have been bitter enemies since childhood.

At school, they fought over the same seat. At work, they fought over the same opportunity. When moving, they fought over the same apartment. They even fell for the same man.

And while the two of them were squabbling so fiercely they turned everything upside down, neither willing to give an inch...

The man they were fighting over: Married and straight. Please don't involve me, thanks.

From then on, the city had two more heartbroken people.

Gu Chunfeng and Jiang An clung to each other and cried. That night, they raised a glass to their friendship of convenience, drowning their sorrows and comforting each other's wounded hearts.

But as the comforting went on, things seemed to take a strange turn.

Gu Chunfeng: I get that you got dumped, but why do you keep asking me out?

Jiang An: Since we're both heartbroken, why not unwind together?

Then they made plans to see a whole bunch of movies.

Gu Chunfeng: How long are you going to keep unwinding? Why haven't you gotten over him yet?

Jiang An: It's not that... I just can't stand you, so I want to look at you a little longer.

Then he invited him out for several meals.

Gu Chunfeng: You're doing this on purpose, aren't you? I've put on a few pounds lately, all from eating with you.

Jiang An: Then... want to hit the gym together?

Gu Chunfeng: ...I suppose I could.

Gu Chunfeng: I have a rival in love. We've never gotten along, even as kids, and we used to pick fights whenever we had the chance. But lately, I've realized I might not be able to live without him...

Jiang An: I have a rival in love too. I don't actually dislike him. I just think he's a tiny bit of an idiot. Now that I think about it, maybe I'm the idiot...

A silly little sweet romance / Rivals to lovers / Childhood friends / Puppy-love antics

Might have a bit of an entertainment-industry setting?
