009: Host, we're the Leave a Mark on History System. If you don't work hard and improve, there'll be trouble.
Chen Zhi looked out the window and waved his fan. He asked indifferently, "What kind of trouble?"
They were bound together soul to soul. He didn't believe the System could kill him.
009 hesitated. "Your body might develop some problems."
Chen Zhi: "Could I die?"
009: "That won't happen."
Chen Zhi: "Then that's fine."
009: "If your progress stays at zero, you might cough up blood now and then?"
Chen Zhi was about to reply when his throat suddenly began to itch. He coughed twice, and a smear of blood appeared on his hand…
Young servant: "Young Master, people outside are saying you were so worried about your grandmother's illness that you coughed up blood, and even missed the academy's admissions exam."
Chen Zhi: "And then?"
The young servant hesitated before replying, "The academy head read your earlier essays and has decided to give you a special examination."
Chen Zhi: "??? I went so far as to cough up blood to avoid taking the exam, and all I got was another exam???"
Liang Jiugong: "Your Majesty, news has arrived from Jiangnan. Nanny Chen is doing poorly. I'm afraid she won't last the month."
Kangxi: "Quietly send a physician there to examine her. Tell her family to spend time with her."
Liang Jiugong: "Rest assured, Your Majesty. Her family are all very filial. Young Master Chen is so worried he's fallen ill, and even missed the academy's admissions exam."
Kangxi: "Hmph. With me here, is he lacking a future?"
Chen Zhi only wanted to coast through life. After binding himself to the Leave a Mark on History System, he refused to take the imperial examinations even if it killed him. But with a whole crowd of people helping him along, how does a lazy fish reach the pinnacle of life?
