A Poor Scholar's Road to the Imperial Exams

Song Heng was a scholar, good-looking and well-educated. He was simply unlucky. His parents died young, and he was taken in by his uncle's family. Living under someone else's roof, he suffered more than his share. An old scholar in the same village took pity on him and let him study at his school. At last, Song Heng had a chance to change his fate. He worked hard every day, studying with all his might. After ten years of diligent study, he finally earned a degree. As he lay dying, he looked back on his life, his heart full of thoughts. I'm not very good at writing blurbs. In a nutshell, this is the story of Song Heng, a poor farm boy who uses his studies and the imperial examinations to build a fortune step by step. Along the way, there are family squabbles and all sorts of other events, and in the end he leads his family to a better life. Everyone in this book is from ancient times, truly and completely ancient. But the male and female leads are still a one-on-one couple. I looked up the ranks and salaries of officials, poetry, and other things online. I've changed some details for the sake of the plot, too. Also, all the settings in this story serve the plot. It's a fictional world, so please don't nitpick the historical details. The book is 50 percent locked to prevent piracy, with a twelve-hour delay. Feel free to check out the upcoming novels on my profile and add any you like to your reading list. I'll publish them all. Theme: Life always brings setbacks. Don't give up; keep going, and you'll succeed in the end.
