[The Prince of Tennis/ Yanagi] Equivalent Exchange

[An original idea. Any resemblance is purely coincidental]

Ando Yumi liked Yanagi Renji from seventh grade through eleventh grade. She liked him for five whole years and confessed five times, all without success.

She had so many reasons to like Yanagi Renji. The boy was refined and extraordinary, immensely talented, always ranked first in his grade, and had already secured a place at the University of Tokyo before taking the entrance exams. He was also superb at tennis and gentle and kind to others...

But what could Yanagi Renji possibly like about her? Her average grades and ordinary looks? The fact that she had no particular talents or shining qualities, aside from eating and sleeping well?

Every girl hopes to be Cinderella, but they always forget that when Cinderella went to meet the prince, she had beauty beyond compare, graceful dancing, and a pair of magic-enhanced glass slippers.

A Cinderella sleeping beside a pile of ashes doesn't even get the chance to meet the prince.

It took Ando Yumi five years of loving Yanagi Renji to understand that.

Later, after giving her speech as an outstanding graduate at the graduation ceremony, she straightened her well-fitting formal clothes, touched up her subtle yet elegant makeup, and picked up her University of Tokyo acceptance letter. Then she stood tall in her five-centimeter heels and walked step by step up to Yanagi Renji.

“Yanagi, I’m here to trade for your love.”

Love cannot be traded like a commodity. I simply have the fearless courage to love you.
