Chasing the Waves

After Situ Langlang retires due to an injury, she meets Ding Fang in a small fishing village by the sea.

From then on, the swimming world no longer has a swimmer named Situ Langlang, only Coach Situ Langlang.

She sets Ding Fang on the path to professional swimming, and it takes him just five years to become world champion.

People say that the talent of a genius whose career was cut short has been passed on, giving rise to the legend of Ding Fang.

But the legend never appears on social media, and people lament that it's such a waste of his heaven-given looks and physique.

After Situ Langlang posted her congratulations to Ding Fang for winning the championship, an account named D reposted her post in the early hours of that morning.

She clicked on it and found what seemed to be someone's diary about an unrequited crush.

"She said I have talent. I'm so happy."

"She got drunk for my sake."

"She didn't have to take on something like this when she was a swimmer, so now that she's my coach, she shouldn't have to take it on, either."

"She chose me, so I must be the best."

"When will she notice me?"

"I've had two lives.

I met her in the first, and found her again in the second."

Nearly a thousand posts, and every one mentioned a certain woman.

The next day, a yellow verification badge appeared beside the letter in the account's name. The verification details read:

Professional swimmer, Ding Fang.

Situ Langlang had always thought that only the moon and the waves knew how she sat sobbing on that remote little island.

But Ding Fang would never tell her that on that silent night when he was fifteen, the world in his eyes was calm, without wind or waves.

Only the moon and the waves knew how he ran toward her.
