Inviting the Charming One to Be My Favorite

Ming Yan, the illegitimate daughter of the Ji family, has been sensible and well-behaved since childhood, always careful and cautious.

Unfortunately, her stepmother is unkind and her legitimate elder sister bullies her.

The one time she ever steps out of line,

is when desperation drives her to seduce a young gentleman staying at a mountain temple to study in peace.

They say this gentleman is the illegitimate son of the Duke of En, whose family is related to the Empress's birth family.

His birth mother is favored in the household, his stepmother is generous, and he himself is handsome, well-read, and uninterested in women... He's an excellent choice for a husband.

After meeting him, Ming Yan is even more pleased.

Playing the pitiful girl, acting sweet and obedient... Ming Yan tries every trick she can think of, and finally wins his favor.

But... one night, Ming Yan is caught secretly meeting her lover under the moonlight.

Pleased with herself, she is about to reveal who her lover is and ask her family to approve the match,

when she sees her usually imposing father look at her lover's face,

and drop to his knees with a thud, trembling as he cries, "Your Majesty!"

Trembling, Ming Yan tries desperately to clear her name: He and I really have nothing to do with each other!

The ruler of the realm, abandoned after being seduced: ...Woman, you've caught my attention. Do you think you can escape now?

Much later, Ming Yan, the imperial consort who reigns supreme in the harem, rubs her aching waist and regrets everything!

A doting romance, no explanation needed. Xoxo!

Core theme: The heroine refuses to give up and fights her fate with her own abilities!
