Transmigrated Into the Terrible Sister-in-Law of a Period Novel

Everyone in East Village knew that the wife Bai's eldest son had married after his first wife's death was the village's notorious piece of work: Wei Ran. She was lazy, gluttonous, domineering, and foul-tempered. If Bai's eldest son hadn't spent years away in the army and needed someone to look after his underage younger siblings and his little one who was just learning to talk, he never would have settled for marrying her. But the whole Bai family suffered for it. Bai's second son was clearly a promising student, but Wei Ran forced him to quit school and work at a factory. Bai's third son was a lovely, innocent young woman, yet Wei Ran dragged shady men to the house every day to size her up as a bride, hoping to force a match and collect the betrothal gifts. Bai's fourth son was frail and sickly, but Wei Ran was so stingy she wouldn't even buy him medicine. A simple cough turned into lung disease. Though Bai's eldest son's child was from his first marriage, that was no reason to leave a little boy malnourished and hungry. When Wei Ran woke up, she discovered she had transmigrated into the body of the awful sister-in-law with the same name in a period novel. Her frail, sickly fourth brother-in-law was lying on the bed, barely alive, while she cursed him. From inside the house came the heart-rending wails of a child. Thinking of the awful sister-in-law's future, abandoned in the mountains to be eaten by wolves, Wei Ran decided she could still turn things around... Blurb screenshot saved on June 3, 2020.
