They say a woman who becomes an official will be beheaded.
Song Qing gazes sadly up at the sky, wondering how to argue with the emperor so she can be dismissed with grace and dignity.
But the emperor of this dynasty seems to have a heart as vast as the Milky Way.
And so Song Qing argues her way up from an eighth-rank Investigating Censor to a third-rank Censor-in-Chief.
Her career is smooth sailing, a truly inspiring success story.
One day, a court historian asks, "My lord, you have become a third-rank official at such a young age. How do you feel about it?"
Song Qing gives a complicated smile. "I often think of a field back home that no one is farming. It's a shame. I hope His Majesty will let me return to work the land."
