Any little angels reading this? I just asked some friends and family to read this novel, and they said it still wasn't immersive enough. I'm planning to keep revising it, but this time I'll finish the whole thing before I do. I'll write it offline and won't post any new chapters. Once I've finished the ending, I'll revise it from Chapter One and upload it, so when I apply for a featured slot, readers will see the finished version. So, are any little angels reading? If nobody is, I'll do it this way.
Matriarchal society + world-hopping + nation-building + everyone's favorite
(PS: By a matriarchal society, I mean a modern society transitioning from female superiority and male inferiority. It still bears traces of that social order, such as men marrying into women's families.)
With an ancestor three generations back who was a launch-day player involved in defending the imperial dynasty, Wang Qingmo was born into a family of impeccably revolutionary credentials, the daughter of a high-ranking official. Sheltered by her ancestors' status and indulged by her family, she grew up as the spoiled young wastrel everyone in Mudan City envied, spending every day in wine and pleasure.
Who could have guessed that a shift in the winds at the very top would knock the Wang family off its pedestal? The young lady, who had never known what it meant to cook a meal, reluctantly picked up a cleaver to care for her family.
… One swing, and she was in another world. …
Stranded in 21st-century China, where she knew no one and society was only just transitioning from male superiority and female inferiority to gender equality, Wang Qingmo could only rely on the System and her innocent, harmless looks. Clinging to the country's powerful support, she began living off others in comfort, eating and drinking well by any means necessary.
***Short scene***
Everyone in the compound was talking about the Wang family.
“That good-for-nothing from the Wang family has finally fallen on hard times.”
“She’s been riding high for long enough. Now it’s our turn to look down on her. Other than her gender and that face, what’s she good for?”
As the chatter grew louder, someone eager for gossip made sure the subject heard every word.
Wang Qingmo had just finished eating. She sat perfectly still, hands folded over herself, like a beached fish.
“Thanks for asking. I’m in China, but the signal’s bad. My greatest talent is having a weak stomach, so I can only live off others. My legs aren’t up to much, either, so I have to cling to someone powerful!”
Her sugar daddy nodded from afar, flashing a kindly smile that was definitely not a threat.
The outsiders dropped to their knees at once: “Is it too late to say I have a weak stomach too? Daddy!”
A little girl in a floral dress timidly raised her hand. “I-I have a weak stomach too…”
(The entire earlier text has been rewritten. If you have it locked, don't read it yet. One chapter a day.)
