Opening March 28: Please add my new novel, A Doting Marriage, to your reading list!
1. When Yun Qing was seventeen, she returned to the Yun family after fourteen years away.
Her mother died when she was three. Her father had remarried long ago and started a new family.
According to the story, she was the outsider in that household. She was sure she'd be excluded and bullied by her stepmother and the others after she returned. She was prepared to run if she couldn't fight back.
But the story didn't unfold the way she expected at all.
Her father treated her with tender care, and her stepmother looked after her in every way, constantly reminding her two children to respect their stepsister. Her little brother called her “Big Sis” so sweetly that her heart melted.
Even more terrifying, her stepsister followed her everywhere, practically begging to be her number-one fan.
Her stepsister also told her she had a childhood betrothal with a fiancé.
When she learned that her “fiancé” shared the exact same name as her handsome deskmate, she couldn't help wondering: Is Chu Yao really such a common name?
2. Chu Yao had known since childhood that he had a fiancée he'd never met, arranged by their parents when they were little.
He'd always brushed off other people's teasing. What era was this? Who still did arranged childhood betrothals? He even announced that he'd rather stay single for life than accept one.
In his senior year of high school, a cute and sweet transfer student joined the class and became his deskmate. At first, he didn't think much of her.
But who could have guessed that Yun Qing would be exceptionally gifted in the sciences? First she stole his long-held first place in physics, then she became a math class representative alongside him, and then she came second in the whole school at midterms, just one point behind him.
Who could put up with that? Their “war” began.
Then, at a parent-teacher meeting, his mother pointed at his deskmate and said, “This is Xiao Qing, your future wife.”
Chu Yao: “???” Mom, are you messing with me?
A little scene:
Two years after they parted, they met again at the same academic competition. Chu Yao lost to Yun Qing because of one tiny mistake.
A teammate teased him with a laugh. “Brother Yao, didn't you say nobody could ever get the better of you?”
Chu Yao stared at the familiar face and replied calmly, “My wife is obviously better than me.”

Opening March 28: Please add A Doting Marriage to your reading list. Kisses!
1. Xie Yin was born into a wealthy family and spoiled from childhood. Her ambition was to be a beautiful couch potato.
When her family said they would arrange a suitable marriage for her, she agreed without hesitation. Her best friend was stunned by how quickly she agreed and couldn't help asking, “Don't you want to pursue your own love?”
Xie Yin glanced at her and said lightly, “My parents said they'll put three hundred million in my account when I get married.”
Her best friend: “...Love is precious, but three hundred million is worth even more. I support you. Any chance you can get me in on a deal like that?”
2. Shen Mo, the eldest son of the Shen family, was cold and ruthless. He entered the company and crushed the other directors, taking sole control before he was thirty. For years, he topped the list of West City's most eligible bachelors.
He was busy with work and uninterested in women. When his family told him they'd found a suitable match from a family of equal standing, a very well-behaved girl who fit his expectations and would let him focus on work after marriage, he agreed at once.
But after they married, he gradually transformed from a workaholic who worked from five in the morning to nine at night into a clock-watcher who worked from nine to five. He couldn't stand spending one extra minute at the office.
A friend teased him, “You're turning from a workhorse into dried salted fish. Is the company going bankrupt?”
Shen Mo said meaningfully, “Maybe I caught it from the salted fish at home.”
His friend: How can anyone catch being a couch potato from somebody else???
3. To Xie Yin, a beauty enthusiast, Shen Mo's looks were a gift from heaven. A marriage between business families of equal standing, no feelings but plenty of money, and a comfortable life as a couch potato. She was very satisfied.
But married life left Xie Yin deeply disappointed. Shen Mo took her to a banquet one day, a business function the next, and on a business trip the day after that. Her game account gathered dust, her comics piled up to the ceiling, and worst of all, she couldn't remember the last time she'd watched a show that updated at ten o'clock at night!
One day, Xie Yin finally couldn't take it anymore. “Shen Mo, let's get divorced. Being married isn't fun at all!”
Shen Mo casually loosened his tie. “Be good. Today, let's play a fun new game.”
Xie Yin: “...”
The couch potato just wants to lie flat, not play games!!!
