Pairing: A hapless little koi fish who is the receiving partner (later cultivates into a spirit) x a cool-on-the-outside, goofy, incredibly lucky merman who is genuinely vicious and bloodthirsty
Blurb:
The little koi is a koi fish.
But she isn't lucky at all. She's terribly unlucky.
Not only does misfortune befall her, it spills over onto everyone around her.
Her superstitious owner bought her, and then the whole family got into a car accident...
Locked inside the house, the little koi nearly got eaten by her owner's cat. Instead, the cat fell into the water and drowned...
When her owner returned after recovering from an illness and saw his beloved cat dead in the tank while the little koi was still happily bouncing around, he got so angry that he grabbed his cane and set out to avenge the cat!
But the owner, who had only just recovered, fell down the stairs and nearly met his end...
In the end, the Buddhist landlord couldn't bear to watch anymore. He chanted sutras for the little koi, whose fate was plagued by bad luck, and released her into the sea.
The little koi wept bitterly.
"Oh my gosh, I'm a freshwater fish! QwQ"
Then the little koi was swept into an unknown ocean current. Who knows how long passed...
Merman: This fish looks delicious.
Little koi: Please spare me QwQ
Little Skit:
Merman: Hm? Food?
Little koi: N-no, we're the same kind! (Please don't eat me!)
Merman: A baby? (What a chubby baby.)
Little koi: (Getting her cheeks pinched) I haven't matured yet. Wait until I cultivate into a human... I mean, wait until I grow up, and I'll be just like you!
Merman: Oh, I've heard Eastern mermaids say they raise their mates from childhood. Your tail is a lovely color. You'll grow into a beautiful fish. (Claps his hands.) You can be my child bride fish!
Little koi: Sob, I-I don't want to.
Merman: What was that? I couldn't hear you.
The little koi looks at the merman's sharp claws in one hand and the plump fish meat in the other.
Little koi: Honey!
Theme: A cute fairy-tale-style story that introduces you to ocean facts in a fun, easygoing way~
