I Await the Spring Thunder

"I await the spring thunder, to remind you whom you love"

[1]

Only after A Fu entered the Hanque Palace did she realize that many things were not as people said.

For instance, everyone feared the great demon for his cruel eyes, black heart, and countless blood debts. But she saw a taciturn, lonely man, quiet and gentle.

Even so, A Fu betrayed his trust and stole his inner core. Even as they fell from a cliff, she still coaxed him with promises of a future spent watching fishing lights at night and autumn maples by day.

Later, Heaven must have gone blind, because she really did get a future.

[2]

When the great demon's martial arts were utterly destroyed and he had suffered a crushing defeat, A Fu became both his wine and his blade.

But after the wine went down, he embraced a new lover with a smile, and when the blade grew old, he threw it away.

No matter how hard she tried, she could no longer enter his heart, not even by a fraction.

At first, A Fu asked, "Do you believe in fate?"

"Where your sword points is my fate."

Later, A Fu asked again, "Do you believe in fate?"

"I don't."
