Playing a Part

[Print edition publication updates: Weibo @Ningyuan430] Chen Ge, an actress with no name to speak of, finally lands her first job in a year: appearing on a web variety show made by an equally obscure production team. But her barely-known on-screen pairing partner openly praises her while putting her down behind the scenes. Just as Chen Ge is wavering between walking out and swallowing her pride to collect her paycheck, her on-screen partner suddenly gets paired with someone else, the show's entire script is rewritten, and the little web show that had been so obscure no one knew it existed suddenly becomes a huge hit, constantly trending online. Not long afterward, Chen Ge is invited to audition for the lead role in a major film backed by a top-notch team. Chen Ge: !!! New on-screen partner: You're welcome. I'm simply your long-admired, quietly accomplished white moonlight. Chen Ge: ??? When did I get a white moonlight? . Award-winning screenwriter Luo Jingyi agrees to join a web variety show as an ordinary guest after an old friend begs her desperately. But after joining the cast, she accidentally overhears a young actress's heartfelt confession: "...I've liked her for a long time. No one can take Teacher Luo Jingyi's place in my heart." It was a long time before Luo Jingyi learned that this heartfelt confession, which made her heart blossom anew, hadn't even been heard in full at the time.
