Cecilia Grindelwald summoned the courage for a second time to sneak out. Using a Portkey, she went in search of the "father" she had seen countless times in visions.
Through prophecy, she learned of the love and hatred between her two fathers. She saw the future and made a decision in her heart: she had to change it.
The Portkey deposited her on a desolate patch of grass, with a seaside cliff just below. For the first time, she encountered the Muggles the wizards talked about. Looking toward the mouth of a cave not far away, she saw Tom Riddle being insulted by two children about his age. Angered, he used a mysterious power to drag them to the edge of the cliff. The two children were terrified and burst into tears.
Cecilia could tell at a glance that Tom was a "wizard," though it was obvious he didn't know it himself.
After the two children left, Tom noticed someone nearby and came over to threaten her.
That was their first meeting. It wasn't a pleasant one, but it would stay with them forever.
